In Loving Memory of Stella Mae Jordan
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stella (Anderson) Jordan of Oakland, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She peacefully departed this world at the age of 93 after a brief illness, surrounded by her family at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. Stella leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Born on May 22, 1930 in Cumberland County, Stella was the cherished third child of the late Richard R. Anderson and Hattie Hopper Anderson. Stella embraced life with grace and kindness. As a devoted wife, she shared a lifetime of joy, challenges, and unwavering support with her late husband Kenneth Jordan. Together, they built a foundation of enduring love that stood the test of time.
As a nurturing mother, Stella exemplified strength, wisdom, and boundless affection. Stella’s children, Peggy Thompson and her husband, Dewayne, of Bowling Green and Judy Brooks and her husband, Gil, of Oakland, carry forward the values she instilled in them, creating a ripple effect of compassion and resilience in their own lives.
Grandmother to Leslie Hudson and her husband, Randy, of Bowling Green, Julie Towe of Versailles, Lance Thompson and his wife, Katie, of Bowling Green, Daniel Brooks and his wife, Mindy, of Park City, and Andrew Brooks and his wife Mary, of Taylorsville. Stella delighted in the laughter and innocence of youth. A caring great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren, Harrison Hudson, Kieran Towe, Hattie Hudson, Hayden Hudson, Cora Thompson, Case Towe, Zach Hause, James Brooks, Nora Brooks, and Ryan Brooks. Her home was a haven of warmth and understanding, where generations gathered to share stories, celebrate milestones, and find comfort in her embrace.
A devoted sister and cherished aunt, Stella played an integral role in the lives of her siblings and extended family and leaves behind two sisters in law, Collene Jordan of Bowling Green and Joyce Anderson of Lewisburg. Her generosity, coupled with a listening ear and wise advice, endeared her to all who were fortunate enough to call her family.
Stella's circle of friends was vast, a testament to her affable nature and genuine interest in others. Her friendships, some spanning decades, enriched the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A strong Christian woman, Stella lived out her faith with unwavering devotion. She was a cherished member of Berea Christian Church, where she found solace, community, and spiritual guidance. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, providing comfort and resilience in times of joy and challenge.
A celebration of Stella's life will be held on Saturday, December 30. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Berea Christian Church with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Berea Christian Church or Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
Though Stella has bid farewell to this world, her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love she so freely gave.
