Mary Eubank Toomey Hatcher, 96, of Smiths Grove, Kentucky, passed away on May 20, 2023 of natural causes. She was born in Franklin, Kentucky, to the late James and Alma Eubank Toomey.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Eulas, in 2005. Mary is now reunited with her five brothers and sister: Paul, Claude, Fred, Grace, Guy and Dr. Lawrence Toomey.
Mary is survived by her sons, David Hatcher (Susan) of Glasgow and John Hatcher (Linda) of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee; four grandsons, Michael, Richard, Joshua, and Benjamin; and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Daisy.
Mary was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She worked for the Warren County School System for more than 30 years, first as a teacher and then as a cook at North Warren Elementary. After retiring, she continued to work as a bus monitor and janitor at the school. She also worked as a preschool helper in the Allen County School System.
Mary was an avid reader, a wonderful cook, and talented floral arranger. In her spare time, she collected junk and sold antiques. She was a member of the Smiths Grove Methodist Church.
Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
