Kenneth (Kenny) A. Hegel, 77, of Oakland passed peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. Kenny was born in Litchfield, IL, to the proud parents, Roy Hegel and Leona Jackson Hegel who preceded him in death. Also, preceding Kenny is death were his two brothers Roy Hegel and John Hegel. Kenny left Illinois with his family to move to Bowling Green with General Motors where he was employed for 33 ½ years. Kenny worked to perfect his craft as he painted many corvettes in his first few years here in Bowling Green. He later moved to the Materials Department where he operated a forklift for the plant.
Kenny was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a lifetime member of The National Corvette Museum—a gift from one of his daughters. Kenny was married to Betty Bononi Hegel and they were married for 55 years. Kenny is survived by a loving family including two daughters: Michele McKinney (John) and Melinda Elrod (Greg). Grandchildren include Heather Brod, Andrew Brod, Haley Elrod, and Garrett Elrod. He also enjoyed three great grandchildren: Zaine Shepherd, Payton Shepherd and Bella Brod. His family brought him many happy moments.
Other survivors include two sisters: Shirley Bradley and Mary Ann Machuga; two brothers: Harry Hegel and Dennis Hegel; and a brother- in-love, Jerome Jascur.
A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Baptist Church on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hardy & Son Funeral Homes.
