Kaylee Jo Young

Kaylee Jo Young, 13, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was born on April 20, 2010, in Bowling Green, to Patrick and Stephanie (Johnson) Young.  

Left to cherish her memory are her parents of Smiths Grove, Ky.; maternal grandparents, Kristin (Mimi) and Detlef (Papa) Petersen; paternal grandparents, Mark (Papaw) and Michelle (Mamaw) Young; paternal great-grandmother, Faye Honeycutt; aunts and uncles, Marisa and Nick Swanson, Jenna and Nate Heisler, and Christopher Young; a special friend, Ashley Spain-Howard (Brad); and several cousins, great aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, R.D. and Kay Johnson, and Harold and Edna Young.

Kaylee was in eighth grade at Warren East Middle School. She had a passion for volleyball and participated on school and club teams for several years. She was very artistic and loved to sing, with a beautiful voice that matched her sweet and loving personality.

Kaylee was a blessing to everyone who knew her. She had a way of making everyone she interacted with feel like the most important person in the room. Whenever there were babies and young children around, Kaylee would be found entertaining and caring for them. She was always eager to spend time with her grandparents and great-grandparents — listening to their stories and sharing her own. And if they were lucky, she would bless them with a song.

Her kindness extended to everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She was a nurturing, gentle soul who loved her family, friends, animals and everyone she met. Her passing leaves a hole that can never be filled and the world is much less beautiful without her in it. Our hearts are broken.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
