Jeanette Compton Skaggs, age 89 of Bowling Green passed away peacefully at the Hospice House surrounded by her family.
The Barren County native was a daughter of the late Elbert and Cleo Lyons Compton. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Medford Skaggs. She was also preceded in death by two children, Roger Dale and Lisa Ann Skaggs; one sister Geneva Rich and two brothers-in-law, Albert Rich and Clifford Peay. She was a member of Meadowland Baptist Church, a Secretary at Bristow Elementary School and retired from Cutler-Hammer/Eaton Corp. She loved gardening, feeding the birds and any other animals that showed up, puzzles, sewing, and travel baseball and being with her family.
She is survived by three children, Rodney Skaggs, Judy Dukes (Don) and Joe Skaggs; six grandchildren, Melinda Young, Nick Skaggs, Amber Poynter, Matt Skaggs, Brandon Dukes and Haley Hughes; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Brawner and Jean Peay; several nieces and nephews and two special care givers.
Her celebration of life service will be 12 noon Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-a.m.-12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home. The burial will be at Smiths Grove Cemetery.
