Janet Marie Phelps Cowles went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2024. She was born August 14, 1960 to Homer Adam Phelps and Betty Pippin Phelps in Bowling Green. She was a cafeteria worker for Bowling Green Independent Schools. She also worked in housekeeping at the Medical Center before she became disabled in 2008. She was loved by so many and one of the sweetest, kindest person you could meet. She was a devoted wife and mother. If you were lucky enough to meet and know her you were the lucky one. She was a member of Richardsville Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Betty Phelps, one brother Leon Phelps and seven grandkids, Tristian, Maddie, James, Jackson, Addison, Skyler and Ella Collier.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years Wilbur Cowles, Jr., one daughter, Jennifer Cowles Collier (Steve) of Morgantwon; one son Wilbur "Will" Cowles (Brandy) of Ohio County; one grandson, Carson Landgrube of Morgantown; one granddaughter Taylor Cowles of Eubank; two brothers,Clyde Phelps (Linda) of Henderson, KY and Dwayne Phelps (Tammy) of Bowling Green; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and many in laws; her two best friends, Theresa Shelton (Steve) of Bowling Green and Alice Sullivan of Edmonson County; and her furbaby, Lady.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with cremation to follow. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family request donations be made to Hardy & Son Funeral Home for funeral expense.
