Flora Martin Madison, 98, of Rocky Hill, passed away peacefully at her home on December 13, 2023. The Warren County native was the daughter of the late General Washington Martin and Josephine Young Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Howard Mitchell Madison, her two sons, Brian and Brent, and her grandson, Todd.
Flora was also preceded in death by her brother, Lester Garland (L.G.) Martin & her sisters, Helen Martin, Ruth Hunton, Roberta Simmons, JoAnn Martin & her twin sister, Dora Kirby & infant brother George.
Flora was Postmaster at Rocky Hill & retired after 32 years of service. She and Mitchell also owned Madison’s Grocery in Rocky Hill. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Church of Christ & O.E.S #279. After retirement, she was also active in Edmonson County Homemakers & Nimble Thimble Quilting Club.
Flora is survived by her daughter, Teresa Madison; Granddaughter, Ronna Booker; Grandson, Ryan Booker and his wife Leigh. She leaves seven great grandchildren: Caitlan, Hunter, Spencer, Madi, Ryleigh, Desi and Evan; and three great great grandchildren, Maddox, Larkin & Elijah. She is also survived by her sister, Elsie Johnson; sister-in-law, Alma Martin; and special friend & neighbor, Dan Abell.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. An Eastern Star Ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 10:00 until time of service. Burial will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery.
