Dorothy Sue Manley Ellis Houchin, 87, of Bowling Green, passed away Sunday, June 23 at the Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Verner Manley and Joyce Opal Meeks Manley Cornwell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, MacHugh Cole Ellis: three sisters, Ruby Manley, Dean Howard and Wanda Scruggs, two brothers, Leroy Manley and Elvin Manley, two sons, Ronnie Devoy Ellis and Dana Gregory Ellis and one granddaughter, Jennifer Lee.
She was known as “Sue”, “Granny Sue” and “Mamaw”. She enjoyed playing Rook and Penuchle with her sons and was also a Big Bunco fan. She loved hosting big family get-togethers’ and Holiday parties and always had a big pot of Chicken and Dumplings that did not last long! She Loved her grandchildren and kept pictures of them and her great grandchildren all over her house.
“Sue” is survived by her second husband, Alton Houchin, two sons, Hugh Steven Ellis(Virginia) and Timmy Dewayne Ellis; seven grandchildren, Melissa Woods (Rodney), Michelle Mudd (Matthew), Kimberly Seufer, Adam Ellis (Stephanie), Dustin Ellis (Emily), Jordan Ellis (Erica) and Bryanna Stoots; eleven great grandchildren, Harper Patton, Haley Mudd, Darwin Woods, Ellis Seufer, Jude Seufer, Jonah Ellis, Layla-Kate Ellis, Jase Ellis, Oaklee Ellis, Remi Ellis and Ty Ellis; several step -sons, step-great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and special friend Rosalie.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Mt Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
