Clarence Keith "Buddy" Kirk, 91, of Bowling Green passed away November 17, 2017, at Signature HealthCare following a long history of multiple health problems.
Clarence was born July 9, 1926, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Ola Lee "O.L." Kirk and Amy Isabella Mills Kirk. Also preceding him in death were his step-mother Opal White Kirk, brother Robert Lee Kirk, and daughter-in-law, Fredda Kirk.
A graduate of Owensboro Technical High School, Clarence was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and part-time charter motor coach chauffeur. In 1946, he began his career as an auto mechanic at Kirk's Auto Electric, working alongside his father and later as owner/operator. After the sale of his business, he was employed by United Warehouse as a sales representative, followed by a career with the State of Kentucky, Department of Transportation, as Garage 6 Supervisor, from where he retired in 1994. Clarence was a charter member of Eastwood Baptist Church, a current member and long-time volunteer of First Baptist Church, and a long-time volunteer at Greenview Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mabel Roberts Kirk, son Charlie Kirk, daughter Phyllis Kirk Clark (Mitchell), granddaughter, Robbin Kirk Emberton (Tony), grandsons Andrew and Adam Clark, and great grandsons Gannon and Brayden Minton, all of Bowling Green; sister, Barbara Kirk Vincent of Dale, Indiana, brother, Thomas Kirk (Betty) of Schererville, Indiana, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Service will be Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 12th and Chestnut Streets, Bowling Green. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Bowling Green. Arrangements are entrusted to Hardy & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church, Bowling Green, Kentucky
