Bobby Akins

Bobby Joe Akins, 69, passed peacefully surrounded by his family, on May 17, 2021, at Medical Center of Bowling Green.  Bobby was born in Butler County, Kentucky, to the proud parents, Wendell Akin and Mary Christmas Downey, who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by one son, Scott Akins; one grandchild, Savannah Akins; one daughter-in-law, Jennifer; one brother, Ricky Akin; one sister, Wanda Akin; and an uncle, Robert Akin.  Bobby was a self-employed laborer and  could do most anything he set his mind to do.

Bobby and Nancy Decker Akins were married 51 years.  He took great delight in being surrounded by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  These children brought him much joy and happiness.  Left to cherish those memories are his son, Brad Akins (Sheri); two sisters, Barbara Orefice (Lou) and Rita Hankins (Roger); five grandchildren, Sheridan Akins (Dalton), Ashton Akins (Zack), Weston Akins, Miranda Akins and Nikki Hagan.  Great grandchildren are Jaxon, Elijah and Autumn.

In order to honor Bobby's wishes, cremation was chosen with no public service.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Hardy & Son Funeral Homes, Bowling Green Chapel.
