Our History > F.B. Hardy graduated from Cincinnati School of
Mortuary Science in 1919 and worked in his father's business,
"The F. H. Hardy Undertaking Company" in West Point, Kentucky.
Following the death of his father in 1925, F.B. set out to practice
his trade. When he stepped off a train at a stop in Smiths Grove,
Kentucky to buy some breakfast, he walked down the street
thinking he rather liked this little town. He passed a sign that
read "Funeral Home For Sale", and as they say, the rest is history.
This became a family business in 1950 when F.B.'s son, W.B.,
graduated from Kentucky School of Mortuary Science and
joined his father. W.B. and his wife, Mary Lou, expanded the
business when they opened a Bowling Green location in the
former residence of Duncan Hines. In 1968 W.B.'s son, Bill Jr.,
a licensed funeral director, joined the family business.
Today, Bill Jr. operates the business with the same traditions
of integrity, compassion, honesty, and caring that his great
grandfather established in 1926.
Bill has surrounded himself with members from the community
who exhibit the same strong principles as his business. Betty
McDaniel has worked at Hardy and son Funeral Homes for 18
years as a licensed funeral director. Faye Phelps, an
apprentice funeral director, has been with the business for 8
years. Sheila Gravil is an apprentice funeral director and
embalmer, and Ron Gravil is a licensed funeral
director and embalmer and both joined Hardy and Son in 2007.
The staff at Hardy and Son always treats your loved one with
respect so you will have a treasured memory of your final visit
with them. They will treat your family with compassion, making
this time as comfortable as possible.
Hardy and Son Funeral Homes are large enough to serve you in
your time of need yet remain small enough to care about every
detail. They can accommodate and need, whether it be a simple
memorial service, a traditional funeral service, or a celebration-
of-life service.
Established 82 years ago by F.B. Hardy, it is now Bill Hardy, Jr.
who moves Hardy and Son toward new horizons as
professionals offering services to enable you to show you
devotion and respect for your loved one. |
